About our program

Teens on the Run is a middle school after school program that meets twice a week. Presently, we are at Black Middle School (HISD).

Each Tuesday and Thursday students meet at the school library at 3:30 p.m.

  • On Tuesdays, we have a guest speaker that covers topics that are pertinent and informative to middle grade students. After the presentation, students are encouraged to run/walk one mile at the school track at their own pace.

Afterwards, the students play an organized game with college students that serve as program supervisors/mentors.

  • On Thursdays, we have a "Wrap Up" Session to review Tuesday's presentation and follow up with an activity. Afterwards, the students run/walk their mile and then play an organized sport.

Students mileage is tracked and are rewarded for the accomplishments.

  • 5 Miles –program shirt; 10 Miles - water bottles; 15 miles - running laces/head band.
  • 20 miles - reflective lights; 26 miles Teens on the Run Marathon Finisher Shirt.

Presently, the program ends at 5:00 p.m.
